Anyone been on an Autumn trip to Paris? I’m feeling very lucky: hot on the heels of three weeks away in France, I’m about to head to the country’s capital. This time it will just be for the day, to celebrate the 50th birthday of an old friend. Eurostar travel, a lunch at my friend’s favourite Parisian restaurant, and a climb up the Eiffel Tower are all on the agenda.
I’ve done a bit of internet searching to find out what to expect from an Autumn trip to Paris. According to this Condé Nast feature, Autumn (Fall) is the best time of the year to visit: the place is quieter than in Spring and Summer, so it’s easier to visit the main attractions and enjoy a café on the outdoor terraces. Unlike in August or December, everywhere is open; the Palais-Royal Gardens, and Versailles, are particularly beautiful.

The artistic life of the city comes alive in the Autumn, and in 2016 Paris will host a Magritte exhibition, a behind-the-scenes look at Disney animations, and a vegan pop festival, all featured in this Time Out article along with other cultural attractions.
Research done, my question now is what to wear for this Autumn trip to Paris. My friend has checked out the weather forecast: a high of 22 degrees, and no rain. Even so, you can never be sure, which is why I’d like to take along the pretty starred umbrella I found on the Esprit website. And a coat is, of course, a must. I found a gorgeous double-faced coat, as well as some practical but stylish Dune loafers, in John Lewis. I wanted to try and source a simple dress for the day; this navy crepe dress from Mango seemed to fit the bill. I also loved their brown leather shopper bag.
And there it is: my Autumn-trip-to-Paris outfit. What do you think? Would you choose something similar, or wildly different?
