Our family will be heading to the Austrian slopes in April, and I’ve been pondering what to pack. It’s been fun checking out all the jolly, bright children’s skiwear out there, and I’ll be posting about that soon. Adult skiwear, on the other hand, is more of an investment. As well as looking good, it needs to be long-lasting and durable enough to keep you warm and dry in adverse weather.
Skiwear can be bulky, so for this trip I’ve decided to cut down on different outfits, and just go for two ‘looks’: on the piste and aprés-ski.
On the piste
For a splash of colour, I’ve picked out this Braddock Women’s Ski Jacket from outdoor clothes retailer Mountain Warehouse. It’s lab-tested to -30 degrees, has an outer shell of waterproof IsoDry fabric, and an internal pocket for goggles and your phone. So coupled with Mountain Warehouse’s breathable, waterproof Morillion Women’s Ski Pants, I’ll hopefully stay nice and dry (nobody wants damp legs on the slopes!).
The Braddock jacket has a vivid splash of fuschia inside the hood, so when I looked around at Mountain Warehouse for accessories to accompany it, I chose neutral shades of grey and cream for the Kylie Knitted Snood and the Penelope Knitted Beanie. I couldn’t resist a bit of colour on the goggles, though; how cool is the rainbow reflection on these Extreme Women’s Ski Goggles?
Aprés-ski
For aprés-ski I wanted to go for style and comfort – so I chose this snuggly-looking grey Textured Jumper with Cashmere from Esprit. With a more dressy top underneath, it would look elegant in the evening, especially paired with Esprit’s High-Stretch Perfect Rear Jeans (because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want a perfect rear? And I certainly need all the help I can get with that…..). And finally, I loved the look of the Saddle Bag in Rough Suede, also from Esprit.
